The definition of Zorbing:
Zorbing is the recreation or sport of rolling downhill inside an orb, generally made of transparent plastic. Zorbing is generally performed on a gentle slope, but can also be done on a level surface, permitting more rider control.
+ Purpose: We climb in and get strapped by our hands and ankles inside a plastic bubble and pushed down a hill to roll and bounce around like a hamster in a wheel.
This time, there are two hamster girls. Linda and me.
Screaming all the way down head over heels. Laughing our asses off.
It was a total blast although albeit rather short. It was like a 20-30 second ride and that was it. I have a feeling that in New Zealand (where this originally originated) that you’re bouncing down the hill for a long while and not so much of a ride but a thrilling experience. There also probably should be other people zorbing around as well in their balls to make it a tad more interesting.
Anyway, at the end of the ride – we floated all the way to the water where we were pulled back by the guides and jumped out.
It was the last of our “thrilling” activities we had on our list to conquer while still in Chiang Mai. It was only just the start of our Thailand adventure though. We had not gone to Bangkok or Phuket yet!
