2015! For the first time, I am away from “home” on the East coast and celebrating the new year in sunny California with family. Looking back on 2014, it was much better (easier) than 2013. Wasting no time, in the second day of the new year, I am flying out and living in Thailand for a few months.
The end of the year is always nostalgic for me. I look through my whole calendar and remember events. I try to forget the bad while noting the lessons and cherishing the good times. I try to wrap up loose ends, move on from whatever I need to, and make sure the new year is a tad different from the last.
I love the feeling of a fresh new start and if you’re Vietnamese and/or Chinese, you get to celebrate twice! The “next” new year is February 19th! Into the year of the ram. 🙂
Without further ado, here’s my resolutions and goals for 2015:
1. Write more
I started writing last year and it was quite consistent for awhile but there’s no argument in the second half of the year, the regularity slowed and died a hellish death. Even my personal journal had blank entries for weeks at a time. Not anymore. I have high goals not only to write more but most importantly – consistently. My goal is to post twice a week and write with more meaning + purpose. *wipes brow*
2. Get into better physical shape
I used to do yoga like everybody else but I barely do much else besides walking for miles while traveling. I haven’t seen the inside of a gym since high school which is a damn shame. Time to get my run on.
3. Drink more water
Who doesn’t need to drink more H2O? I drink much less water since I’m not working in an office anymore. This is probably because there’s no reason to get up from your desk and take a trip to the water cooler excuse anymore. I find when I’m dehydrated, I’m lethargic and don’t even realize that’s the reason half the time. Must hydrate, hydrate, hydrate. It’s good for your body & your health.
4. Continue adventuring
I’m not trying to “live the same year 75 times and call it a life.” Adventure has ups and downs and that’s what life’s all about. There will be good years, bad years, and everything in between. Right now, I’m doing a lot of physical adventuring but also a lot of inner reflection will (hopefully) will come out in my writings (personal or on here)
5. Continue to practice Gratitude
This is a forever constant in my life. I am very blessed and there’s not a day that goes by where I forget that. Practicing your daily gratitude gives endless positive results so give it a shot! Some cheesy words to live by is expect nothing and appreciate everything.
As always, I am so thankful for a place to write, express and share my stories. Thank you for reading and helping me along to become the person I am today.
What are your resolutions? If you don’t believe in resolutions, what are some goals or changes you want to make in the next year?
