What are you grateful for?

Love and Gratitude - Thanksgiving

Love & Gratitude: is one of my former weekly columns where I express my gratitude for people and the world. I stopped the column mid-way through the year but occasionally, it’s not a bad thing to show appreciation for all the big & little things. Being that it’s Thanksgiving, this write up was a must.

This year, I’m especially grateful for:

+ Being able to spend time with my family.
This is the first time in 10 years where I’ve lived in close proximity to my family. Before it was a three hour plane ride from DC and suddenly it was way across the country. I’m happy to say that for the past month, I’ve been able to spend more time with them here in California than the past years combined.

+ Being able to travel, work, and live my life like I do.
After years of living the corporate lifestyle (and growing unhappy), I’ve managed to break the constricting mold and forged a different path for myself. The idea of following your personal legend holds true and when doing so, the universe does conspire to move you right along that chosen path. I am thankful to have a skill set that is advantageous to this type of work + very fortunate that I’m at a good place in my life that allows the freedom and mobility to do so.

+ Patience
Some of my readers are aware about my mother. She has early on-set Dementia, specifically Alzheimers and while it’s a common form of mental illness that strikes a large amount of the aging population, it’s close & personal….and totally utterly sucks. It’s known as the long goodbye which I am NOT thankful for at times.

While there’s plenty of dark + sad moments, the silver lining is the amount of patience, love and compassion I have gained so far. The fact that she’s still here on earth and I’ve got time to spend with her is something to truly appreciate.

+ Opportunities
I’ve been blessed with some pretty amazing opportunities that’s come my way this year. I’m not sure if it’s a result of hard work, plain dumb luck or maybe a mixture of the two with some fortitude but my god, thank you. Thank you.

+ This blog and my fellow readers, fans, and followers.
Thank you for being there this entire year and rooting for me. This little baby blog is slowly growing and pulling on it’s big girl pants. My blog is evolving and at the same time, I’m taking strides to write more and better since it’s something I love to do. I appreciate the love, e-mails, tweets, comments, likes, and just overall support and encouragement. ♥

  • I’m grateful for a full year of location independence, and getting new, great clients. Thinking of you and your mother … stay strong!
