This list of the best hotels to stay in Thailand is personally vetted by me (I’ve stayed in them) and/or my clients who I’ve planned and organized epic trips for. This list of the best hotels to stay in Thailand are all 4 or 5 stars hotels and luxury or boutique. I will create a mid-range to budget-conscious list of best hotels to stay in Thailand next.
Art Mai Gallery Nimman Hotel: This hotel is loved by some of my clients. It’s located in Nimman (the more fancy expat area) with lots of restaurants, the gigantic Maya mall, and Think Park. This hotel in Chiang Mai is chic, modern, and a very boutique-ish hotel.
Khum Phaya Resort: This hotel has 83 rooms and is located 10 minutes from Old Town Chiang Mai. The vibe is all dark wood with traditional furnishings. Each room has direct access to the pool or has their own plunge pool, and all have a hot tub. It’s a bit away from the center of town but you will get a relaxing experience.
Veranda Resort and Spa by Sofitel: This 5-star luxury resort is located in the Chiang Mai province but is far in the outskirts of the city. The hotel service is exceptional. The pool is gorgeous with amazing views of the mountain treetops. I highly recommend this hotel if you’re looking for luxury and some solitude.
137 Pillars House Chiang Mai: The original 137 Pillars House hotel. Enjoy luxury and modern comforts while walking in the past and enjoy the peace of the countryside in Thailand. The suites are “havens of tranquility with every imaginable convenience” Enjoy the fresh air with large terraces and expansive daybeds. All beds are king-sized with HUGE dressing rooms. The bathrooms are spacious with separate indoor /outdoor garden showers and Victorian-style baths.
Le Meridian Chiang Rai Resort: This luxurious resort is surrounded by mountains, green grasstops, and ancient Buddhist temples with hill tribe villages. There are a two-level outdoor pools and a spa to take advantage of. Get a ride to the Wat Rhong Kun – white temple and come back to stay away from the action. There is a shuttle that will take you to the center of things.
The Mantrini Chiang Rai: Is a 4-5 star hotel with modern amenities. The decor is also modern with sleek white floors and a luxe chic bathroom. It is about 6-7 miles from the infamous Wat Rong Khun White Temple.
Aloft Bangkok Sukhumvit 11: This is a Starwood hotel SPG Category 2 hotel. One of my favorite hotels in Bangkok. It’s in a fun area, has nice chic clean rooms and an amazing pool overlooking the city. It’s 4 stars and has decent prices!
Swissotel Le Concorde: This hotel has a great location near Huai Kwang MRT Station. It is large with 22 stories and has a shopping mall, outdoor pool, a few restaurants, spa, and bar. Per night, the cost is usually less than $100USD so it is a great option for couples or friends.
137 Pillars Suites & Residences Bangkok: The 137 Pillars Suites & Residences is a luxury escape in the middle of the chaotic city of Bangkok. They have a location in Chiang Mai and because it is one of my favorite cities in Thailand, I had to visit. There is an old-world flair outfitted throughout the entire hotel. The suites are large with marble bathrooms and personal butler service. The 137 Pillars is well-located, everything is walking distance, including the MRT station. There is also a shuttle service that features a champagne bar and free wifi. The 137 Pillars Suite & Residences is one of my favorites in Bangkok.
The Kee Resort & Spa: If you want to be in the thick of things, then Kee Resort & Spa is one of the best hotels to stay in Thailand for you. The hotel is located in busy Patong Beach and located next to crazy Bangla road but the noise doesn’t travel as much. Ask for a room away from the pools (it gets loud) but enjoy the rooftop bar and skyline views. The hotel is modern and chic.
Avista Hideaway Phuket, MGallery by Sofitel: Another top hotel in Patong Beach in Phuket. This hotel in Thailand is a 150-rooms the hotel is beautiful. Appreciate the rich vistas of both Patong and Freedom bays, a private beach club, access to three separate beaches, butler service and three swimming pools along with a children play pool area. You’re away from the hustle and bustle of Bangla road so consider this a hideaway or getaway.
