Greece: Hotel Palladium Mykonos Review

Our first hotel was Hotel Palladium Mykonos!

We chose a 5-star hotel that was reasonably priced called Hotel Palladium Mykonos. We found the deal on Expedia but chose to book directly through the hotel which had one  of the rooms at the same price (luckily).I have a weird thing about booking directly through the hotel rather than a third-party.

Mykonos or “Island of the Winds” and it is definitely the most busy “party” island even during shoulder season (early September). We did not go during peak season which was fine with me – I hate crowds and heard that summer in Greece is overwhelmingly hot.

+ The hotel is clean with a classy vibe and….very white. Just like the rest of the island. Wi-Fi is free – where it should be for all hotels. Breakfast IS included which is a nice & has generous selection of all healthy and not so healthy items!

+ The entire time, service was impeccable! We made friends with the bartender, hotel receptionist/manager, and the bell hop. They made every effort to make sure we were taken care of and answered all of our questions about the island, good eats, and nightlife spots.

The hotel restaurant is decent despite being overpriced but what can you expect? The carbonara was amazing – do try it if you ever stay there. 🙂

The Hotel Palladium Mykonos is a 5-10 minute free bus/shuttle ride to downtown  (comes every 30 mins) and a 2 minute walk to the closest beach. Most people would have wanted to be in the center of downtown but it was nice to get away from the hustle & bustle of it when we wanted. They said taxis were hard to come by but it was always a breeze for us but be ready to shell out some euros as nothing in Greece is inexpensive.

I prefer boutique hotels all the way compared to the big chains. They always have more personality and less of the “corporate” feeling even if it’s the luxurious Four Seasons or the Ritz Carlton.

We spent a good few hours sunbathing and eating at the pool. The dining area overlooks the pool area – a great place for a romantic dinner before hitting the town.

  • Ahhh this looks amazing! I went to Greece years ago and found it such a nice place to visit – good food, lots of culture and relatively affordable. Is it still affordable compared to other European destinations?

    • I think so. Vienna was pretty expensive although I found Budapest relatively affordable! Brussels seems to be expensive (planning to go end of May).

  • I’m jealous with all the traveling you get to do. I’ll continue to keep living vicariously through you, but you’re gonna have to start bringing me back souvenirs, like cheese! =)

    • I’ll definitely start bringing back edible souvenirs for you!! Brussels – it’ll be amazing chocolates!
