Mai found this little gem called Athens New Hotel on Jetsetter.com and we booked two rooms after checking out the review on tripadvisor. I really love boutique hotels and this was a great find. Athens Hotel is located in the center of the city with a great view at the rooftop bar and restaurant. It didn’t have the typical business cold vibe of the big international chains with dark tones combining modern and chic without being too simplistic or boring.
We arrived at 11 pm and checked in promptly with no issues. The rooms were…purty darn impressive. It had an awesome dark concrete shower with detachable shower head. The water pressure gave me a prickly massage and the temperature could be a little too hot – which I love. Gotta love European hot water regulations….none. The decor, electronics, and wood flooring were well-maintained and free wi-fi was a plus.
Since we went around September and used jetsetter.com, the price was really reasonable or else I would expect during high season, this place does get a bit expensive.
This was part of the lobby entrance. Mimi and I practically had an orgasm for the decor even after arriving late at night and pooped out for a nap.
Breakfast was included or charged to the room and it was a buffet with a good variety of cereals, fruits, meats, & pastries. You had to order your eggs but the restaurant isn’t too big so you didn’t have to wait long. The fruit was fresh and the pastries were crisp on the outside and soft on the insisde. Tea/coffee were expected and served without disappointment.
Dinner was held at the rooftop the night before. The night was warm so we had dinner at their small outdoor seating area and enjoyed the incredible nighttime views over the city. We could see the Acropolis at the top of the mountain where Olympus from Greek mythology is located.
Overall, we had a comfortable + luxurious stay at the Athens New Hotel and for the price split amongst two people, the price was reasonable and I recommend this place to other fellow travelers making a stop in Athens to explore the ruins!
